Hello and thank you for joining us for today's Live Q&A session on Duke's new master of Engineering degree in financial technology or fintech will get started in just a minute to allow all applicants to log on I do want to point out that this is the chat box where you were into your questions live don't worry if you don't see your question appear immediately. We will see it and we will respond. We've had quite a few questions that were posted during registration. So we'll start with those in just a minute, but you are. Welcome to post questions during the event as well.
OK let's get started. I'm Susan Brown. I'm assistant director of admissions for all of Dukes Engineering Masters program programs and I'm here with doctor Jimmy lens. Jimmy welcome thank you. It's great to be here this morning. Oh, it's wonderful to be here with you again. We've done this kind of thing before, but I would love it. If you give just a brief introduction to students on who you are sure so I'm a little uncharacteristic. I come from about 2 decades in industry working in finance brokerage and banking.
Both I started off trading equities and derivatives about 25 years ago and moved into electronic trading an later algorithmic trading. I ran a couple of firms. I was Co CEO and president of a large broker dealer and then went to work with one of the large banks as the chief risk officer of their brokerage firm an later as the head of predictive Analytics. So I'm still very tide in with industry and I think that is what makes.
Your appointment as director of this program so fabulous that you have those ties and industry because the Master of Engineering is a very industry facing degree. We like to say absolutely I talked with students or perspective. Students all the time about that. And since I left industry. A few years ago, I continue to stay very much in contact. I sit on board of one company a lot. J company and I shared this fatigue Advisory Board for another early stage financial technology company that works directly with banks so I still.
Very much keep my hand in industry and a lot of our professors are from industry right right that's absolutely right.
Well, we have a lot of questions to get to started 2 people. Asked about the requirement of programming for programming background for the application? How much programming do they need to join this program that's a great question. I hear that from students or perspective. Students all the time, too, we have, I think a little bit of a unique take on that students certainly need an understanding of programming and a little bit of experience is great to have in their pocket and we have.
Students I've talked to with years of programming experience an others with less maybe what they did as Undergrads. What we have done is we've created an assessment that students will take as soon as they have been accepted to the program and that assessment will allow them or allow us to help benchmark them on what they might need to get prepared for the program so during the summer prior to the program start. They can actually take a few courses online if they need it and be up to speed with.
All their peers as they enter so that everybody is on the same level when they start taking courses. That's great any specific languages that they need to be aware of you know, I think that C plus is obviously an information injured. It's a standard is a standby for engineers. I think Python is also honestly very popular. And so we will use that and so I think both of those languages are are going to be equally appealing.
The whole idea, though here is it's not so much about coding as it is about programming and kind of some of the the strong points that students need to have when they are considering programming how to architect programs? How to think about it and we have a couple of instructors. Here, who are just above and beyond anybody in the industry as far as how to think about programming. How to think about programming. I like that excellent we have a couple of questions.
We don't require work experience for the Master of engineering and students come directly after undergrad. Sometimes they come after working for awhile do you have a preference for either of those no of course not, we have no preference but as you said we have both and I think they both add I would say yes, I have a preference for both. Yeah, there, you go there. I think that's that's a little bit different because I think it's really necessary for a good class environment to have both of those things. This class conversations absolutely so we have people coming from both.
With industry experience and people directly from undergrad into the program quite a few from from grad school right right? Absolutely, a couple of people. Asked about the kinds of professional areas that students might enter after completing the program. One person wanted to know what are the fintech recruiting opportunities in North Carolina wow. That's such a great question now I like that? I love that in particular when you think about North Carolina.
And all the things that are going on South of course, Charlotte. NC is the 2nd largest banking center in America and I would wager that there are actually more jobs being created in finance and in financial technology in Charlotte than there are in other large Metropolitan centers in the United States. I won't name any but but I think Charlotte is probably on Top of the list. Besides the fact that we have a couple of banks, headquartered there. Now we also have the newest merger, the largest merger since the financial crisis.
SunTrust and BB and T will headquarter their brand new bank. I'm truest bank in Charlotte, NC so it's actually expanding everyday so there are a lot of opportunities to the larger question of where are people going to? Where are the opportunities for fintech graduates the way I see it is a multi answer question I think they're going to be some with some of the legacy banks like I just spoke about that are in places like Charlotte.
I think there are going to be a lot with the non banks in that operate in the financial sector. So think companies like rocket mortgage Quicken Loans. LendingTree soufi places like that. I think there are going to be a lot. I think the startup community throughout the world is huge and the demand for people with an education background in Fintech is unsatiable right now and then I would be really disappointed.

For future career development, this program’s graduates are supposed to work in traditional financial services companies or innovative firms or teams
If we don't have at least a couple of graduates start their own companies. Absolutely absolutely someone someone asked for future career development. This program graduates are supposed to work in traditional financial services. Companies or innovative firms or teens, having answers. Both all of the above salute. Lee absolutely I fully expect that to be the case where they'll be working in traditional firms legacy firms and globally. That's not the United States. That's globally people sometimes forget that some of the most.
Innovative financial technology firms fintech firms are not in the United States. So think of companies like Ant financial and Ali Baba huge and they're making huge strides in the industry so this is a global phenomenon. But I would fully expect an even within the legacy firms. I think that there are a lot of cutting edge things being done. I mean legacy pharmacy that the writing on the wall and they know that they need to get into some new areas, but there are also using this too.
Make their existing areas alot more efficient and so I see a lot of people being employed in those kinds of areas to scale back sometimes some of the traditional areas excellent. We have a few application questions. If you want to dive into those. I'll help you OK alright great, so someone asked do you guys accept on line programming certificates from things like course era you know we don't we don't see those really as academic history.
10:09:24 AM
Do you guys accept online programming certificate from coursera?
I think those are things that you can mention in your resume but how do you feel about students going out and using things like Corsair to bolster their I? Absolutely love that I mean people going out and acquiring skills using the latest technology and the latest things that are available. That's fantastic thing to do I do that myself. I go out and get new skills. Online all the time here. So why I think those are great things as you mentioned the mention those.
Either in your CB or in your statement of purpose. I mean, those are those are great things and those are great skill sets to a fire there were some fantastic instructors that are doing things on course era and similar right right right and because you mentioned the statement of purpose. I have to say that we recorded on essays and statements workshop this week that I plan to send out to attendees of all of our workshops. It was a great session. We really talked about crafting your statement of purpose or essay to show the Department what you want to do.
And to represent your best self, yeah, I think that's great. That's great things to have yeah? Absolutely. Can you talk about the admissions committee someone wants to know who will review the application materials and determine the admission? Yeah, it is a committee that reviews. All of the applications and this is something I would like to put out there is applications are considered it comprehensively right people. Ask all the time. What should my score be or watching this be or what should that be.
We consider everything very comprehensively here and so I think that if if folks are worried about a certain area 1 certain area. You don't get too caught up in that because we are looking at everything in a very comprehensive manner and the committee considers it in that in that way. If you go online an you look and see. I'm kind of where the mean?
Of the scores and things like that remember 25% or below that 25% or above that so it's just a mean don't get too caught up in those things that's exactly why we do post what we call the mid 50% because I think posting a single number really makes a student think Oh if I don't have above that number right. The range is a better indication of what a successful applicant could be absolutely and remember at the end of the day. You know the reason for applications is to ensure or had the highest probability of Student Success.
Make sure that everybody who enters the program has all the tools necessary and the skills necessary to be successful in the program great great 2 people wanted to know is the application itself selection rolling on a rolling basis. We have rounds in the Master of engineering in Fintech and I'll ask page who is listening. In another room to post those deadlines in the chat for everyone, but you can go to the image site. Image.prep.edu click on add mission, and look at the deadlines.
There are specific deadlines for the Master of Engineering, 2 rounds for fall 2020. Admission even though you'll start in the summer. So so will get those posted but basically applications are held until after a deadline and then reviewed in mass and it's especially important in a brand new program absolutely absolutely. I think that for any program like this.
Paige Eppenstein Anderson
10:12:48 AM
https://meng.pratt.duke.edu/apply/deadlines -- make sure to look at the Summer term deadlines for FinTech!
That is just starting off with multiple deadlines. That's really the only way to do it.
Right great thank you page. She has posted that link for those listening. Let's get back to our questions.
How many students do you think do you have a crystal ball? How many students do you think will be admitted roughly in total for this inaugural Fintech Masters program, yeah, so I I hear that question a lot. I think people are trying to gauge their their audience, giving it yeah. I don't. Please don't do that I believe that at this point, it will probably be between 25 and 30 students. We had originally thought actually fewer and we've increased the size of the program a little bit. Not very much, but a little bit.
To account for the interest both from the student side and from the employer side right so this was driven by both by both perspectives and so probably in that 25 to 30 range is what I would fully expect that we'll have in the in the fall semester OK great here's some strict application questions then I'll tackle do we accept the GRA if you're taking on January 14th the day before the application sounds like Round 2 is for you.
If you're taking the DG area on January 14th you're going to have to wait for that March deadline and I think that's OK people think Oh. Gosh, if I don't make round one of Hoes. I'm not going to do anything but but we will look at applications in both round. One and round to you. You will have an equal chance of getting in because we're managing the flow of applications and make it so that we provide an answer on a reasonable base absolutely absolutely. I don't want anyone to be discouraged by that. And Unfortunately the GRA is what the GRE is we don't get to dictate those dates.
Right right and we we mentioned there's no minimum tests or required for these programs, but we have mid 50% for the program on our website. Let's see is the Duke Financial Technology Master of engineering program considered to be a stem program. Yes, talk about how this program is based in the engineering school rather than the business cool, yeah, I think that's I think that's the question. I love hearing that question, we are. I think that's one of the biggest differentiators between.
Our graduate degree and similar programs that you might read about in. In some of the business schools. This is based in an engineering school. So it is a stem program. But In addition to that is kind of attack that we take with the program right? What we are doing here is a very practical application of skills, whereas in the Business School. It might be a little bit different. This is also a graduate degree. It's not a concentration, which you might see it. Other schools we are, we have formed.

How many students do you plan to recruit this year?
10:16:00 AM
Since it is a brand new program, I am wondering how many students in total you are expected to admit this year?
A whole graduate degree around financial technology. It's not something to do on the side or something to do. In addition to some other type of graduate program that you might everything that we have done here is has been architected to fit together really well and to support the goal of the program to have the best graduates in Fintech at the end of it. It has this isn't a sideline and the reason that I think it's really important in the engineering school is that engineers tend to build things.
Indian engineers have practical application of all their skills and so rather than teaching the theory or something like that which there is going to be some theory in here all of the courses are hands on all of them are meant for you to come out of it with a new set of hands on skills great excellent posted a few questions that were similar to ones. We've already answered that have those out there. Here's a neat question. What are the key differences between business analytics and financial technology?
10:16:42 AM
what's the key difference between Business Analytics and Financial Technology?
Yeah, so I think there are there are aspects of business analytics that are in financial technology, but only aspect so I'm going to go into more detail here there probably should move in with you one of the things that that we use. Of course in Fintech is we do use a lot of data for different kinds of things I mean, some of the courses are things like machine learning. And so machine learning. Of course, is driven by data while data analytics tends to be.
A little bit more marketing oriented for the most part, not 100% but it tends to be a little bit more marketing oriented sales oriented things like that. The analytic data usage that we have in the financial technology programs tends to drive things in a little bit different way so think about machine learning driving other things, so while they both use data. We're using it for a very different. Purpose is an within financial technology. It tends to be very robust for applications and things like that.
Not that marketing is not an application shut but it is a very, very big difference. It's a great question, though, because I do hear people ask what's the difference between between that or the application of different data. So it's a great question great excellent. Thank you for your question someone asked about the internship master of Engineering Master of engineering program in any discipline does require an internship is the internship secured by the program know by the program does.
Supply you with the resources you need to find that internship. We talked about all the companies that are doing this kind of thing all over the world, not just an engineer in the United States but also we have a fantastic career team that is here for students that works exclusively with Masters students in Engineering, said no English majors. They do not know there's anything wrong with that, but I like that. They have that that tech focus their engineering focus.
For our students they work to bring companies to campus. They help with mock interviewing they help with resume review. There really a fantastic resource. But you know that made me think of something Jimmy. We talked about engineering and usually I say they don't work with English majors. They don't work with econ majors, but econ majors can't economics majors can apply to this program absolutely so choosing. She hit on there that I think are really important. One is the crew services team here is fantastic and.
They are and that's a big differentiator I've had a lot of people. Ask me about career services. This is something in the engineering school working just with master students right. We have a team that's all they do so as you said they're not doing other things. This is their focus is the only focus that they have the program in general. I think is very, very much constructed that way, and very thoughtful in in that regard with regard to.
10:20:16 AM
Is an interview required for all qualified candidates?
Working with employers and things like that. We do see a lot of interest from employers. I talked to them on a on a very regular basis. There is a huge amount of interest and actually input from employers into into the program and as you mentioned it is global. It is not a not. USN trick even though the schools here. Great someone asked do you plan to interview candidates? Yes, we will do Skype interviews probably with candidates?
It gives us an opportunity to learn a little bit more about students. But it also gives students the opportunity to ask questions of us and then you should ask questions should is your 1 on one opportunity to talk with someone in the program. I use it it. I think it's really important, and I want to just throw this out there. Maybe I shouldn't. But I throw some little freight. Yeah, bill free to contact me, I put out my contact information. I am happy I talked to perspective students almost everyday either by email.
Or on the Phone or they come by, and see me if they are in the in the Raleigh Durham Research Triangle Park area. I've had the opportunity to see to see several I've done. Skype interviews with with several to answer questions. More than happy to do that. But you should ask questions. While this is a phenomenal program. If you have questions about it don't assume ask we're all here right. We're here to help and I posted a slide with our email address. Pratt underscore Masters at duke.edu if you would like to be connected with Jimmy just email us.

Are curriculum schedule for the program changable? May I take some courses other than list on the website, like cloud computations?
And we can make it happen someone asked the curriculum schedules for the program or the curriculum schedules for the program changeable for example. May I take some courses other than those listed on the website like perhaps perhaps in cloud computations. So the courses right now are what we what we provide is we have a core of courses and then we have 2 different tracks within the program that can allow you to specialize a little bit more. We will of course expand.
Susan Brown

Class is over as a program matures and gets larger, but right now. Those are the courses within it. Can you have the availability to take other courses there was always there are always ways to facilitate other things, but for the actual purposes of the course itself. The courses listed are the courses for right now right now that could absolutely change involves absolutely alright, great well. I want to take a quick break.
To allow you to post your questions, we will be right back.
10:23:01 AM
Hi Susan, is there any scholarship for this master program
All right, we've had a quick question Papa scholarships scholarships at the Masters level at Duke are handled by the Department scholarships are very limited in some Department so I would I would recommend to students that you look into external funding opportunities. I'll post a quick link for that in the chat my favorite scholarship is the scholarship. I can take to any school. So I would definitely ask you to look into that, while we're waiting for some questions here Jimmy.
Susan Brown

What are some things you wish people would ask what do you want to talk about yeah? I love talking bout program? I love talking about future roles within the program. The other question that I get quite often is around financial technology versus financial engineering had that's morning. Somebody asked me about that. and I would say these are very, very different things. Financial engineering tends to be want not in the engineering school.
Even though it's called financial engineering for some place that is, but most places. It's not an ideal tends to deal a little bit more with the product side only so creating new derivative products and things along those lines, whereas financial technology is much broader an applies across the customer facing things interface is an products and things along those lines, but also the middle part of financial services and then the import of financial services.
It also tends to be much broader financial technology that is in going not only in banking and brokerage and wealth management, but also into insurance and other areas, so think some of the captives. Anas I talked about before some of the non banks, so it tends to have a little bit broader. Actually, a significantly broader application. I think 2, two students excellent excellent well Oh good somebody just posted.
10:25:13 AM
Thanks for answering. Is it possible to do a mix, like selecting some of the courses from the Technology track and also some from the Technology Management track?
Thanks for answering your welcome is it possible to do a mix like selecting some quarters from the technology track for electives and also some from the technology management track and the tracks be mixed to the trucks. Phoenix they can be mixed. So we cannot allow that again. So there's 2 things to keep in mind here one. We want you to graduate surely reasonable reasonable amount of time I think it's a great question, though, because honestly I would love to hear what courses are you interested in doing that.
Maybe maybe we need to think about organizing it in a slightly different way or something along those lines. But certainly electives can be mixed and to allow for people to kind of pick and choose an as I said, You know, one of the things that I I fully anticipate over the next couple of years is that we increase the number of electives so that there are other things out. There, like cloud computing possibly or things along those lines that students can an already have, like a list of my own.
That I would like to like to increase right. The are used to increase the size but yeah, that's definitely possible applicant? Who wrote that question. Please email us at Pratt underscore Masters at duke.edu with your perfect mix of technology track and technology management track electives and will forward to Jimmy just to think about absolutely I would love to hear that here's a great question.
10:26:46 AM
I have one question about risk management. I find most risk analysts still use traditional models, what's the opportunity for fintech innovations? Compared with financial engineering or data analytics students, what's the edge of fintech students?
This is about risk management in the student rights. I find most risk analyst still use traditional models. What's the opportunity for Fintech Innovation wow. That's such a good question. And there's more compared with financial engineering or data Analytics. Students was the edge of a fintech student in Austin. What about questions and that's a great very thoughtful question really is. In particular as it applies to risk management. I think it really is nice question so as I mentioned one of my roles.
I was the chief risk officer chief credit officer for the 2nd largest brokerage firm in the United States and in that in that particular role I oversaw risk across the company so operational risk market risk lending risk. An all kinds of other things, including information security and things along those lines and so to your question around financial engineering or data Analytics. Those tend to be a little bit more focused so.
In data analytics and financial engineering, you're probably not going to get much exposure to the operational side of things you're probably not going to get exposure to some other elements as I mentioned before that. Those tend to be in particular, the financial engineering, a little bit more concentrated in one area whereas financial technology is much broader and I think in terms of risk management, having that broad point of view is is invaluable.
Because rarely to things occur in a vacuum for this sounds like somebody who's probably in industry, an working a little bit. So if you have an operational issue. It tends to go over into other areas well. If you don't have a good understanding of the total environment. It's very, very difficult, sometimes to do that with with regard to the idea of legacy models. And things like that. I could not agree more what we are starting to see. Now even in credit decision and things like that.
Susan Brown
10:28:33 AM
Please post your questions!
Is the use of machine learning an artificial intelligence so if you look at some of the non bank banks?
That have been extremely successful, they much of their modeling is actually based on that, so I think the companies like so high right so if I for those of you who aren't familiar is large company. They have done. I think 25 or 30 billion dollars in loans that have been facilitated through securities floated in the market asset backed securities things like that. But what they do is they refund primarily they do a lot of things now but they started off refinancing student loans at better rates.
Using a lot of machine learning to understand what the probabilities were around. These lungs and so we're starting to see a lot more of that kind of thing we in market risk and things like that. Even some of the regulatory environment is starting to see that so market risk in particular around things like loans have changed quite a bit whereas it used to be backwards. Looking now, it's very much forward looking so the new Cecil model.
Which is it is a new regulation here in the United States is specific about that? It's expected credit losses So what they're looking for is models that are forward looking versus things that look in the past right right? That's fascinating, yeah, great well, please. Please post your question someone is just posted if someone graduated this program wanted to go on for a PhD where would they go.
10:30:12 AM
Where will graduates of this program go to for PhD programs?
Because we don't have a PhD in this yet yet. We don't have yet is the operative word. It is, you operative word, and I'm glad somebody asked that question because it's one that I do here fairly often and I should have addressed it earlier. That's a consideration. Certainly in the not too distant future of as far as a PhD in something like this so for PhD is I think this provides a great entry point to a lot of different PhD programs because.
What you have now is your grounded out in education in a in a really broad way so I think you could look at even a couple of different colleges within universities for pH. DS you can certainly look at engineering, but I think that you could look at some of the Business School applications and even possibly some of the liberal arts applications for a PhD that was very applicable to this particular area. We may end up being one of the first places that develops a PhD, though in this because.
10:31:33 AM
is the program designed for new graduates or people who already have working experience?
I have heard from both students and again from industry and so the opportunity to develop this in concert with industry participants would be just phenomenal right question. Oh yeah, and someone asked is the program designed for new graduates or people who already have work experience. We talked about what we wanted to see how is it designed I would say yes it's just really for both and so one of the one of the things that we are trying to do is to get a very diverse population people that have worked people that haven't worked.
The way that we designed the program is based on skills that people have attained in undergraduate so if you don't have work experience. You're not going to be disadvantaged. However, I do think that people that come with work experience are going to have perspectives that are going to be very different and so they will have a little bit more perspective on the applicability of their skills. But I don't think people that are coming straight from undergrad are disadvantaged in any way, and one of the reasons that we give the assessment.
At the very beginning assessments because we do more than one assessment at the very beginning is to make sure that people have all the skills necessary to be successful in the program and for people who said wait, he keeps talking about being successful in the program. I am always thinking about that. Always I mean? What we're here to do is to educate students and to have students become be successful in the program. And so there's always Top of mind with me right right happy alumni is what we're after that's true right right.
10:33:14 AM
Will there be any research opportunities in the program or only internship opportunities?
That brought up something that I get asked often what kind of business courses do I need to have taken an undergrad should be prepared for the business courses in the Master of engineering program. These are these are based for anyone who studied engineering. You don't need a business background at all to take these 2 business courses business fundamentals and management in high tech industries that are there any research excuse me are there any research opportunities in the program or only internship opportunities that's interesting question I think that.
There may be internship opportunities in research is that if that answers your question so one of the things that we are certainly doing is we are working with a lot of people in industry and people in industry are often interested in.
Sponsoring research different kinds of research questions. Anne research opportunities exist across the across the board. One of the things that we are in the process of doing is one may be up and running is we will have 2 different blockchains running. There's a single blockchain course. Now I'm hoping to add a second one in the next couple of years, but we will certainly have some more cutting edge things that will be available and hopefully we can facilitate some research questions that way so there may be some internships that are.
Research oriented right great question alright any other questions post them now.
Anything else that I might be able to answer for you at this point, I mean, you and I talk all the time and that's one of the things about. I think Duke that is a little bit different, and I will. I will talk about that for a second one of the things that I think separates the program is that even though this is in the engineering school. It is very interdisciplinary, absolutely so we have people teaching in the program from several colleges here at the University so one of the things that we will be teaching is.
Of course on kind of the regulatory ramifications of public policy, and things like that, from somebody at the law school. We have someone from Trinity College. The Department of Economics. In fact, Co Chair of the Department of economics will be teaching within the program so this is we take advantage of all of the different strengths of the different colleges within the University at Duke in kind of formatting this program and I think that's a.
Kind of something that Duke is known for is bringing in the best of all world providing students with a support system that helps with their success in the program so I'm part of the admissions and recruiting team that is here to Shepherd students through the application process and answer any questions, but I also in a larger team with our career services that we've talked about and our graduate communications center that we mentioned in the statements in essays workshop that we talked about.
Those are phenomenal resources for all master students that I like that at Duke, a master student is in the conversation rather than just an add-on you know like absolutely they really their presence here master student master students are very much part of the student body. I think sometimes at other schools in particular, graduate programs can be. Add ONS and they can feel like they are off to the side a little bit here. It is anything but that you are part.
I'm partial of the student body of Duke University. Major part of the population. Absolutely someone wants to know the nitty gritty on the interview will it be technical questions or behavioral questions?
10:36:40 AM
will the interview include technical questions or behavior questions?
So you decided yet that's great don't think of it. This isn't you're not applying to mackenzie so it is not going to be and I love people. McKinsey I think they're very good about the way they do that. But that's not what this is about this is this is an opportunity for us to get to know you know us. It's very much a two way street so don't consider them in. In that format. We will not be asking technical questions that I can assure you.
OK, as far as behavioral questions don't think about the formatted behavioral questions that you may get from other types of interviews were not trying to trick people out there is no wrong or right answer. These are strictly an interview to ask questions and to answer questions. But this is very much more straightforward. It's great. I'm glad you asked that question 'cause. I don't want that to be on people's minds. This is not like you're doing a Skype interview for a particular job or regular roll we're not.
No this is not here to scare you this is definitely not, that this is an opportunity to just get to know each other.

Hi! I would like to ask about the curriculum workload of this program. Is it possible to apply for a part-time internship while having classes?
Great student asked about the workload of the program would it be possible to work in a part time internship while taking classes so good question yeah I think for different students it's going to be different it really really really well I think that's I hear that from people in all kinds of Masters programs and even undergraduate students sure on campus jobs I think it is very particular to the student.
It is I think a challenging course of study, there are 11 courses in over 3 semesters, including the internship so you know if I think some students will be able to do that. Other students may find it really difficult to be able to do that. So I think it's Unfortunately, I would love to say give you a yes or no answer, but I think it's going to be very student oriented well and I agree a lot of students work part time while in the program but it's really going to vary by semester.
Right how many classes your register for which particular classes. You're in it, and I think it's very student oriented sure absolutely.

Regarding to the career path, do you think the program is helpful for tech consulting?
Someone ask if this program is helpful for going into the tech consulting career path is that so that's a great question. I've been in contact with three of the Big 4 consulting firms in the United States and have already spoken with them about this. There are interesting enough at least one of the firms. The person that I've been speaking with is a graduate of the private school, there a partner at the firm.
And somebody I worked with years ago and so they have been very forthright about that. I think it will definitely help. People are looking to consultants for this kind of advice as you can well imagine in particular, with process. Architecting and things along those lines that students. I think will be well equipped for an that's right in the sweet spot of a lot of consulting firms right excellent and you made me think that we should talk a little bit about alumni. We don't have any fintech alumni yet.
We have a lot of Pratt Alumni, a lot of Duke alumni there. I think 180,000 living. Duke alumni right now and I think that joining that kind of rank, you will be amazed when you go out in the world and find out who else went to Duke and it says I don't know, people get excited. When I find each other. People who get excited. I've been overwhelmed by the number of Duke alumni that have reached out to me to ask what they can do to help out the program.
I spoke with three engineers from one of the large auto manufacturing companies. Just last week. I thought I was going to have a call with one and when I get on the Phone. There were 3 people on there and so I said, You know can you introduce yourself and the other 2 people were also Pret a lot of course they were coming back?
Excellent excellent, but a phenomenal alumni base and a real chance to join a great group of along not to be in that kind of alumni club absolutely active clubs all over the country all over the world. You know you'll just walking around one day. See somebody and Duke shirt and your instant friends. Somebody ask if there will be a chance to be ATA in teaching assistant or are a research assistant during the program. I think that's the same answer as an on campus job or an optimist, but it's going to depend on.
You are time availability your expertise are there classes that you've already taken either at your previous institution or while in the program 'cause. Most Department they're going to want you to have taken the clients to be in RA to BAT. A4 it right razor. A little bit different. We often call students Department assistance because you're doing more than just research. You might work for Department. You might work in the library on that's a good place on a Sunday morning to get your homework done.
